Terms of Service
Plain-language summary (not a substitute for the terms below): You must be 18 or older. Subscriptions renew monthly and you can cancel anytime from your account — no phone calls, no hoops. If we bill you in error, we refund it. “Unlimited questions” means real personal studying, not scripts, bots, or shared logins. Finance Brain is a tutor, not a licensed advisor — use it to learn, not to make financial decisions, and follow your school’s academic-integrity rules.

1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a contract between you (“you” or “your”) and Finance Brain (“Finance Brain,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of the financebrain.ai website and the Finance Brain tutoring service (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the Service.
2. Age requirement
You must be at least 18 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service and agreeing to these Terms, you represent that you are at least 18 years old.
3. The service
Finance Brain is an AI-powered tutor for finance and accounting coursework. It explains concepts and walks through problems step by step. It is a learning tool — not a substitute for your instructor, your course materials, or (per Section 8) a licensed professional.
4. Billing, auto-renewal, and cancellation
- Subscriptions renew automatically each month at the price shown at checkout, charged to the payment method on file, until you cancel.
- You can cancel anytime from your account’s billing settings, which open our secure self-service billing portal (powered by Stripe). Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you keep access until then, and we do not charge you again after that.
- We will never require you to call, email, or mail anyone to cancel. Cancellation happens the same way you subscribed — online, in your account, in a few clicks.
- We may change subscription pricing going forward. We will give you notice before a price change takes effect on a future renewal.
5. Refund policy
- Billing errors: if you are charged in error — a duplicate charge, a charge after you canceled, or a charge for a period in which you did not have access — we will refund the erroneous charge in full. Contact support@financebrain.ai from your account’s email address.
- Change of mind: outside of a billing error, subscription fees already charged for the current period are generally non-refundable — you keep access through the end of the period you paid for and simply do not renew.
- Fair-use terminations: if we terminate your account under Section 6 (Fair use) or Section 9 (Acceptable use), we may, at our discretion, refund the current billing period and end the subscription rather than continue providing service.
- Refunds, when issued, go back to the original payment method through Stripe and may take 5–10 business days to appear on your statement.
6. Fair use
Your subscription includes unlimited questions, subject to fair personal use — one person, studying for themselves, asking questions the way a student normally would. It does not cover:
- Automated or scripted use — bots, API scraping, or bulk-question submission tools.
- Shared-account use — one paid account used by multiple people, or credentials shared or resold.
- Abusive volume clearly inconsistent with one student’s coursework — for example, sustained usage run continuously to generate content for resale or redistribution.
If we detect fair-use abuse, we may throttle, suspend, or terminate the account. Accounts terminated for automated, scripted, shared-account, or abusive usage may be refunded and terminated per Section 5, and we may decline to reinstate the account.
7. Academic integrity
Finance Brain is built to help you understand finance and accounting — not to produce work you submit as your own where your school’s academic-integrity policy prohibits that.
- You are responsible for knowing and following your institution’s academic-integrity, honor-code, and AI-use policies.
- Using Finance Brain to understand a concept, check your work, or get unstuck is the intended use. Using it to generate a submission you represent as unaided original work, where your school prohibits that, is your responsibility, not ours.
- We do not verify your school’s specific policy and cannot tell you what your institution allows — when in doubt, ask your instructor.
8. Educational tool — not professional advice
Finance Brain is an educational tool. It is not a licensed financial advisor, investment advisor, accountant, CPA, tax preparer, or attorney, and nothing in the Service creates that kind of professional relationship with you.
- Answers are for learning purposes — they help you understand coursework concepts and methods.
- Do not rely on Finance Brain’s output for actual financial, investment, tax, accounting, or legal decisions. Consult a licensed professional for those.
- AI-generated answers can be wrong. Verify anything you plan to rely on — check it against your course materials or ask your instructor.
9. Acceptable use and intellectual property
You agree not to use the Service to: violate any law; harass, abuse, or discriminate against anyone; upload malware or attempt to compromise the Service’s security; scrape, crawl, or reverse-engineer the Service outside of normal use; or resell or redistribute Service output as a competing product.
Finance Brain owns the Service, its software, and its branding, including all trademarks, logos, and graphics used in connection with the Service. These Terms do not transfer any Finance Brain or third-party intellectual property to you. You own the questions you ask, and you grant us only the rights needed to operate the Service and improve it (see the Privacy Policy for exactly how question and answer content is used and by whom).
10. Disclaimer of warranty and limitation of liability
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that AI-generated answers will be accurate or complete.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will Finance Brain or its affiliates, officers, employees, agents, suppliers, or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages, however caused, under any theory of liability. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Finance Brain’s aggregate liability for anything arising from these Terms or the Service is limited to the amounts you actually paid us in the one-month period before the first event giving rise to the claim.
You agree to indemnify and hold Finance Brain and its affiliates, officers, employees, agents, suppliers, and licensors harmless from any third-party claims, losses, or costs (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, or willful misconduct on your part.
11. Dispute resolution and governing law
The formation, interpretation, and performance of these Terms, and any disputes arising out of them, are governed by the substantive and procedural laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and, to the extent applicable, the laws of the United States. The exclusive jurisdiction and venue for actions related to the subject matter of these Terms are the courts located in California, United States, and you submit to the personal jurisdiction of those courts. You waive any right to a jury trial in any proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply to these Terms. These Terms do not contain an arbitration clause or a class-action waiver.
If any provision of these Terms is held illegal, invalid, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent; we may assign ours as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
12. Changes to these terms and version history
We may update these Terms. When we do, we will update the version number and effective date at the top of this page. Material changes — ones that meaningfully reduce your rights or change billing or cancellation terms — will be disclosed in-product or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the update.
| Version | Effective date | Summary |
|---|---|---|
| 2.0 | July 8, 2026 | Full rewrite: added refund and cancellation policy, auto-renewal disclosure, fair-use clause backing “unlimited questions,” academic-integrity clause, and educational-tool disclaimer; kept the 18+ age requirement, California governing law, jury-trial waiver, and no-arbitration posture from version 1.0. Published with conservative resolutions of open legal questions (age line, arbitration posture, liability cap, refund windows) — pending a one-time counsel review. |
| 1.0 | April 18, 2023 | Original terms and conditions. Superseded. |
